Smiling is a natural drug
When you smile, your body releases endorphins and other feel-good chemicals that work together to enhance your moods and overall life. In addition to feeling better, a smile can also make you look more attractive and youthful.
These benefits are worthwhile goals – no question about that. However, some people aren’t just prone to smiling. They may not like their smile or are simply self-conscious about their appearance. This could result from misalignment, chipping, displacement, or any other issues that can impact oral health and the appearance of their smile.
Luckily, modern dentistry has made it possible for anybody to attain a gorgeous and natural smile.
An undeniable revolution in smiles
Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a cutting-edge dental treatment planning approach that records your face, jaw and teeth using digital photography, dynamic video, 3D scanning and advanced software in preparation for restorative or cosmetic dental work. Because you can visualise the results with your specialist before any physical treatment takes place, DSD empowers you to understand and actively participate in your treatment decisions.
When planning treatment for aesthetic cases, it is critical to remember that smile design cannot be separated from a holistic approach to patient care. Understanding the interrelationships among all the supporting oral components, including the muscles, bones, joints, gingival tissues, and occlusion, is essential for achieving a successful, healthy and functional result.
There is no denying that seeing is believing
A beautiful face is one in which all features are in balance according to a natural law known as the ‘golden ratio’. Thus, flawless integration of facial and dental composition is required to create an elegant smile.
Just like an architect creates a house to fit a site and the homeowner’s preferences, your dental specialist designs your smile to complement your facial features and achieve your smile goals.
At elleven Dental Wellness, we take it a step further and create a treatment plan that considers your entire face, profile, lip muscles and bone structure. This is referred to as face driven dentistry. Our face-based treatments aim to deliver the following extra benefits:
- Ease lip wrinkling
- Reduce smile lines
- Lift and plump the lips for a fuller appearance
Steps to the Digital Design process
Enhanced digital photography
The first step in developing your smile is to take some beautiful images of yourself as you are right now.
Video analysis
A brief video clip allows us to see how your smile relates to your face during normal speech.
Smile design analysis
When designing changes to your smile, we start with the end goal in mind. We’ll take as much or as little feedback as you are willing to provide.
We then take that information and combine it with how you are now and all the wonders of contemporary dentistry to develop a solution that works from an aesthetic standpoint as well as biology, health, and function.
We then send this information to our team of ceramists, dental technicians, and specialists, who can provide advice and contribute to your smile as required in all aspects.
Test drive
Allows both you and us to see how your finished result will look. We can make decisions on tooth length, form, colour, and so on at this stage.
