DentalCheck-up &Routine Examinations
Dental check-ups make sure your teeth are as healthy as they can be
What is a routine dental check-up?
A routine dental check-up provides you with a thorough oral health check. This includes an examination of your teeth, mouth, and gums. Our experienced private dentists in London will check for issues like gum disease, oral cancer, and tooth decay. We will also perform X-rays to make sure we are providing you with the exact treatment that your mouth requires.
Dental Check-Up London
What can I expect from a general dental check-up?
A dental check-up at our Harley District practice is a two-step process. Our dentists will perform a routine examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth. After this, our friendly hygienists will start the cleaning process.
When you first arrive, our dentist will ask to take a look into your mouth. They will check every individual tooth and note down any potential oral health issues. Our dentist will check for any signs of cavities, plaque, and tartar build-up. They will also perform X-rays.
Our dental hygienists will then remove any hard-to-reach plaque and tartar, making sure that your teeth are completely clean. You will then receive a scale and polish.
How often do I need a dental check-up?
Here at E11even Dental, our friendly team of dentists usually recommend that you have a check-up once every six months or twice a year. This can depend on your overall oral health.
If your mouth needs some extra attention, we may recommend you come in on a more regular basis. You may also have to regularly visit our practice for treatment after your examination. This can depend on your individual needs and your treatment plans, all of which will be discussed with you during your general dental check-up.
Although you are able to see how your teeth look, you may not always be aware if something is happening undetected underneath your gums. If one of our dentists discovers that something isn’t quite right during your routine check-up, they will discuss this with you straight away. It is possible for them to detect tooth decay or gum disease, even if you are experiencing no signs or symptoms.
It is important to stay on top of your oral health with routine examinations so that your dentist can spot these issues early. During your appointment, your dentist will go over any additional treatment you may require and answer any questions you have.
By attending a routine dental check-up at our London practice, we hope to minimise your need for future treatment.
How can I keep my teeth healthy at home?
Although visiting our practice for dental check-ups is vital to keeping your teeth healthy, there are preventative measures you can take at home to help. We recommend brushing your teeth twice a day, for two minutes. Brush once in the morning to remove any overnight plaque build-up, and once again at night to remove what has formed during the day. Use a fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, combining this with regular flossing. You should also stick to a healthy diet and enjoy acidic drinks to a minimum.
Our experienced team can also recommend lifestyle changes that might help improve your oral health. We can assist with smoking cessation and offer advice on diet changes.
